Elsie “Jake” Randall Bigler October 6, 1912 January 24, 2011 Elsie “Jake” Randall Bigler went to be with her Lord on January 24, 2011 at the age of 98. Born in Morgan City, LA., on October 6, 1912, Jake lived most of her life in Harahan and River Ridge, LA. Jake is survived by her husband of 72 years Arthur “Mike” E. Bigler Sr.; sons Arthur “Mike” E. Bigler Jr. (spouse Jackie) and Randall G. Bigler (spouse Gail); grandchildren: Jeffrey, Brian, Blake, and David Bigler, Kristie Maher, William A. Dazet Jr. and Thomas E. Dazet; and 10 great grandchildren: Brooke, Brodie, Rebecca, Noah, Jonah and Julia Bigler, Caden and Kaleigh Maher, and William A. Dazet III and Nicole Dazet. Jake is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jake was preceded in death by her parents Albert Joseph Randall and Alice Cecille Pierron Randall and sisters: Winnifred Jett, Mildred Randall, Alice Grizzaffi, Abbie Mae McElwee, Vivian Broudreaux and Jewel Topham. Devoted to her family and church, Jake was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church for over fifty years. Jake spent a long and accomplished career as a housewife and mother. An Army wife during WWII, Jake devoted her time to caring for her infant sons and her ailing mother. In her later years, Jake’s greatest pleasure was enjoying extensive travel throughout the United States with her best friend and husband, Mike. A devoted wife, Jake and Mike shared most of their leisure time. An accomplished cook and seamstress, Jake particularly enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, her church and visits with family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services which will be conducted at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City, Louisiana, on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 12:00pm. Visitation will be held from 10am until time of service. Internment to follow in the Morgan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
