Margie Leftwich

August 2, 1921 — March 23, 2011

Marjorie “Margie” Mary Delaune Leftwich, a lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the age of 89. She was the youngest daughter of Eddie and Cecile Cancienne Delaune and the wife of the late Bill Leftwich. Margie saw only the good in others, and that quality was evident in the way she loved unconditionally. Being a very compassionate person, she treasured the relationships of her loving family and dear friends. Her warm embraces will long be remembered. She was a spirited soul who lived her life to the fullest. Those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her are fortunate to have had her example touch their lives. Her love and infectious laugh will remain in our hearts always. Margie was a faithful parishioner of St. Stephen Catholic Church where she also taught religion for many years. She was a member of the Berwick Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and also one of the original members of Fairview Hospital’s “Pink Ladies". She also loved to cook and work in her garden. She is survived by one son, Willard “Billy”Leftwich, Jr.; two daughters, Linda Bracomontes Blakeman and her husband David, and Kathy Leftwich Taylor; twelve grandchildren, Doug Leftwich, Dale Leftwich, Penney Van-Den-Burg, JoAnn Willis, Chad Bracomontes, Ronnie Bracomontes, Patrick Landry, Pam Jacob, Dwight Landry, Shawn Taylor, Ragen Rice, and Kaylin Taylor; several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Patsy and Dave Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Dennis, Roland, and Russell Delaune: one sister, Rita Orlando; one son, Johnny Brocamontes; and one daughter-in-law, Joan Leftwich. Visitation will be held Saturday. March 26, 2011 from 8:00AM until 11:00AM in the Saint Stephen Parish Hall with funeral services beginning at 11:00AM at Saint Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick with the Reverend William Rogalla officiating. Interment will follow in the Berwick Mausoleum. The family would like to thank Dr. Melancon, the sixth floor nurses and CNAs at Teche Regional Medical Center, a special caregiver, Dianne Givens, and the staff and residents of the Patterson Health Care Center, whom she considered her second family. Twin City Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
