Therese Marie Boudreux Whatley

God saw fit to call home another one of his angels. Mrs. Therese Whatley passed away July 2, 2011, 11:41PM at LGMC. She was born in Napoleonville, La., August 20, 1923 to Henry Boudreaux and the former Clementine Rodrigue. She lived most of her adult life in Morgan City and later in Lafayette, La. She was a resident of Camelot Nursing Home in Broussard, La at the time of her death. She is survived by one sister, Girt Foster of Houma, La., three daughters, Theresa Thompson and her husband, Herbert, Patricia Fitzgerald and her husband, Floyd, Cynthia Fernandez and her husband, Michael, two special daughters-in-law, Lisa Smith and Rhiannon Boyle and a special son-in-law, John Corrales, Jr. She has eleven grandchildren, Belina, Scott, Darla, Todd, Vicki, Rachel, Tara, Gordon, Tina, Nichole and Casey. She has sixteen great grand children, Lexy, Matt, Devan, Natalie, Nate, Hailei, Nikki, Shannon, Blair, Ryan, Cameron, Dirk, Dustin, Dylan, Blake, and Scott Leonard and a blessing of five great, great grandchildren, Parker, Cameron, Cayden, Christian and Kylie. Mrs. Whatley was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her five children, Gordon Lash Smith, Sr., her son, Gordon Lash Smith, Jr., her daughter, Barbara Smith Corrales, and grandson, Don Paul Rodrigue. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, Ernest A. Whatley and one step daughter, Loveland Leonard. She is also preceded in death by seven of her eight siblings, Herbert Boudreaux, Hilda Holley, Shirley Lainhart, Jeanne Andre, Harry, Henry and Dalton Boudreaux. She was born into a large and loving family and passed on to her own family the most important things in life, loving and caring for those you hold dear and helping and showing kindness to all. As a younger woman, her passion was dancing and fishing was her favorite pastime. She had a green thumb and loved to grow and admire flowers and plants. Her life will be celebrated with fond memories and the laughter she brought to the lives she touched. She worshiped at Covenant Methodist Church in Lafayette. She considered the members of Covenant her church family and she loved her pastor, Rev. Chris Blanchard and associate pastor, Byron Aucoin. She loved going to church on Sundays and spending time with the family after. The family sincerely appreciates the Covenant Methodist Church and the special caregivers at Camelot. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 AM to 11:00 on Wednesday at the funeral home. Therese will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. The family would also like to acknowledge and thank a very special great neice, Rachel Pepperdene, for generously giving of her time to care for our loved one.
