Roy Joseph Benoit, 65, a na-
tive of Thibodaux and resident
of Amelia, died Friday, June 8,
2007, at his residence. He was
a member of St. Andrew
Catholic Church.
Roy was a welder by trade
and loved many things in life.
He loved being on the water,
which included fishing and
crabbing. At home he was a
very good fix-it man, as he
loved to tinker. He loved to en-
tertain people at his home, es-

pecially with his barbecues
and crab boils. He also loved rock and roll, and country music
sometimes taking out his guitar and strumming away and
singing. When he was not playing music, he loved to dance and
did so very well.
Roy will be remembered for his love his God and his family
He was the pillar of the family.
Roy was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and
brother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved
him.
He was the son of Dolese and Beatrice Thibodeaux Benoit.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marie Lo
drigue Benoit; one daughter, Charlene Simoneaux and her hus
band, Camille, of Gautier, Miss.; two sons, Faron J. Benoit, and
his wife, Cherie, of Katy, Texas, and Jason P. Benoit of Amelia
one sister, Janice Fabergas and her husband, Michael, of Bay
ou Blue; one brother, Roland Benoit and his wife, Margaret, o
Schriever; 10 grandchildren, Royce Benoit Jr., Valerie Amadee
Anthony Scully Jr., Waylon Scully, Sheena Scully, Donald
Clause Jr., Summer Clause, Jayla Simoneaux, Alex Brackin
and Jonathon Benoit; three great-grandchildren, Royce Benoi
III, Bryce Benoit and Bayli Scully; and one step-great-grand
child, Trey Derouen. He is also survived by his father and
mother, Dolese and Beatrice Benoit.
He was preceded in death by one son, Royce Benoit Sr., and
one daughter, Sheila B. Scully.
The family received friends Sunday, June 10, 2007, at Twin
City Funeral Home in Morgan City and again this morning
from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in
Amelia.
AMass of Christian burial was held at St. Andrew Church
with Father Greg Fratt officiating. Interment was at St. An
drew Cemetery in Amelia.
