Walter James Romero, Sr.

Walter James Romero, Sr., 82, a lifelong resident of Berwick, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Walter was born July 26, 1929 the son of Joseph Julian and Laura Mae Lombas Romero. Walter was a boat captain by trade but was a wonderful farmer and carpenter. He loved spending time with his family and will be remembered as a good husband and father with a great sense of humor. He was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church in Berwick. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Broussard Romero, of Berwick; one daughter, Veronica Romero Governale, of Morgan City; one son, Timothy J. Romero, of Morgan City; four grandchildren; three sisters, Josephine LaCoste, Linda Aliff, Merrell Romero. He was preceded in death by his parents; three daughters; two sons; two sisters; four brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of Mass at the church. Walter will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
