Abel J. Norman, Jr.

Abel Joseph Norman Sr. December 27, 1916 October 29, 2011 Abel Joseph Norman Sr. a lifelong resident of Morgan City passed away at Teche Regional Medical Center on Saturday, October 29, 2011. Abel was a World War II Vet who loved playing his steel guitar and writing poetry. Abel is survived by his three sons: Abel Norman Jr. of Delhi, David Norman of New Iberia and Michael Norman and his wife, Iva of Lithia Springs, GA; two daughters: Mary N. Marceaux and husband, Eugene of Morse, LA and Martha N. Smilie and husband, Jimmy of Morgan City; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Abel was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Norman; parents, Abel and Lillie Norman; two sisters: Mabel and Florence Norman and one grandson, Philip Marceaux. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 6pm until 9pm at Twin City Funeral Home and resume on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 10am until service time at 11am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with full military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
