Michael James Dupont, 49, a lifelong resident of Bayou Vista, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in Lafayette.
Michael was born on March 17, 1962 in New Orleans, the son of Edward and Meriam LeBeouf Dupont.
Michael enjoyed spending time outdoors with his sons, hunting and fishing, while instilling in them the hard working values that he demonstrated in his own life. Michael worked for Oceaneering for many years, and while working there he headed up the disaster response teams, which would respond to natural disasters around the country. Michael had a big heart and would always help others that were in need and he considered his friends as family. Michael will be missed but will never be forgotten.
Survivors include, his wife, Terry Waguespack Dupont, of Bayou Vista; three sons, James, Travis, and Simon and wife Mandy, all of Bayou Vista; one daughter, Michaela, of Bayou Vista; one grandson, Cooper, of Bayou Vista. Also surviving is one brother, Allen Dupont, of Bayou Vista; one sister, Pat Dupont Becnel and husband Robert, of Mandeville; three nephews, Daniel Becnel, Mark Becnel, and Eric Becnel, all of Mandeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Meriam LeBeouf Dupont; one sister, Josette Dupont; grandparents, Robert and Florence LeBeouf and Adolf and Regina Dupont.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Twin City Funeral Home with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Twin City Funeral Home. Michael will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Michael's name to Heart of Hospice in Lafayette.
