Jeanne Marie Picou, 93, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at her residence.
Visitation will be from 9:00am to 1:00pm Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. Mass will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, December 31st at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with procession to Morgan City Cemetery.
She is survived by her three daughters; Catherine Bourdier of Morgan City, Dianne Richardson and husband Sid of Texas, Nell Lamury and husband Lee of Berwick. One son; David "Doc" Picou and wife Rose of Morgan City.
Jeanne had 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Picou Sr.; son, George A Picou Jr. and wife, Shirley; parents, Taylor and Marie Kiff; brothers, Edville Plessala Jr., Hughes Kiff; sisters, Lumina P. Thevenot, Luella K. Rody and Wilma K. Alpha.
Jeanne belonged to many groups, she was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of Americas. She was also a member of the Come Lord Jesus and a Eucharistic minister. She would often bring communion to the sick and was devoted and active member of her church. Jeanne and her husband were the caretakers of Avoca Island Duck Club. Tending to the members needs and showing their hospitality were very important to them. Jeanne later was the manager of the Avoca Island Duck Club for many years after her husband's passing. She loved hunting, fishing, cooking and outdoor activities.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Jeanne left lasting impressions on everyone she met and will truly be missed by all.
