Johnny P. Spinella, 73, a lifelong native of Morgan City passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at his home.
Johnny was born on July 25, 1938 in Morgan City the son of Vincent P. and Louise Daigle Spinella.
Johnny was a member of the St. Mary Golf and Country Club and was also a member of the St. Mary AARP. He was an avid LSU Tiger and New Orleans Saints fan. He was a police officer for the City of Morgan City retiring after 20 years on the force and was also the manager of the Berwick Civic Center for 11 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends but especially loved the times he went on cruises with his wife Karen. Johnny served his country in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Karen Spinella of Morgan City; three daughters, Janet Spinella McVea and husband Paul, of Creston, Louisiana, Faith Ann Spinella of Morgan City, Cory Spinella Meranta, of Ponchatoula; one son, David Spinella and wife Dawn, of Bayou L'Ourse; one sister, Frances Spinella Bullard and husband Richard, of Bayou Vista, seven grandchildren, Joshua Meranta, Rayne Campbell, Danielle Dupont, Crystal McVea, Cody McVea, Tyler Spinella, Jonathan Spinella; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent P. Spinella and Louise Daigle Spinella; brother and sister-in-law, Vincent A. Spinella and his wife Susan Spinella.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Greg Fratt officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2011 at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 8:00 a.m. until the time of mass on Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
