Mary Ann Giroir, age 83, a native and resident of Bayou L'Ourse died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, Louisiana. She was born on January 11, 1929.
She was a faithful member of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia. She was also a member of Saint Andrew Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters.
She was a longtime resident of Algiers Point in New Orleans, where she was a faithful member of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Algiers Point. She retired in 1984 from the United States Department of Agriculture at the Michoud facility in New Orleans East, after 33 years of employment.
Mary Ann will always be remembered as being strong and independent, and loved the blessing of life. She was very strong in her faith to God and lived life to the fullest. She was the oldest of eight siblings.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia, with a rosary to be said at 9:30 a.m. by the Catholic Daughters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 with Father Joseph Chacko officiating.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five sisters, Anita Noxon, Dora Guillot both of Dallas, Betsy Grizzaffi of Morgan City, Claire Phillips and her husband, Kenneth, of Belle Chasse, and Judy Falgoust and her husband, Gerald, of Vacherie; one sister-in-law Lois Verret Giroir, of Amelia; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence A. Giroir and Rosa Pennison Giroir of Bayou L'Ourse; two brothers, Mark A. Giroir, and Richard M. Giroir; one brother-in-law Alfred "Ben" Noxon.
The family would like to thank the staff at Morgan City Healthcare Center, Dr. Natalie Dishman, Dr. Robert K. Gamble, Dr. David Sisam, Dr. Darrell Solet, and longtime neighbors Philip Lajaunie and wife, Judy, of Bayou L'Ourse, for their loving care.
