Royal "Cap" Joseph Hymel, 94, a native of Stephensville and a resident of Bayou Vista went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Teche Regional Medical Center. "Cap" was a dedicated member of Bayou Vista Baptist Church for many years along with being a member of several local civic organizations. He was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran who served his country proudly and with honor.
Cap is survived by his loving wife, Hazel LaCoste Hymel of Bayou Vista; three daughters: Jeanie Clement (daughter of Royal and Bessie) and husband, Drue of Morgan City, Pam LaCoste and husband, Ricky of Bayou Vista and Theresa Knight and husband, Lloyd of Houma; two sons: Butch Verrett and wife, Francine of Houma and Lloyd Hymel (son of Royal and Bessie) and wife of Stephensville; one sister, Ethel Hymel Acosta; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Cap was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Verrett Hymel; his parents, Luke and Enola Hymel; one brother, Erving Hymel and one sister, Eula Hartman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home beginning at 6pm until 9pm and will resume on Thursday, May 24, 2012 starting at 9am until 1pm at Bayou Vista Baptist Church with a service beginning at 1pm at the church. Royal will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
