Whitney "Sonny" J. Billiot, Jr.

Whitney J. "Sonny" Billiot, Jr. 75, a lifelong resident of Morgan City passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Sonny was born on July 17, 1936 in Morgan City the son of Whitney J. Billiot Sr. and Nola Aucoin. Sonny enjoyed being outdoors and had a love for fishing. Early in his life he enjoyed trapping, shrimping, and hunting. Sonny never met a stranger as he loved being around people and would help anyone who needed it. He loved his family and loved spending time with them, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving wife, Janette M. Billiot; three children, Whitney J. Billiot III and wife Vickie of Morgan City, Sandra M. McCall and husband Thomas of Magnolia, Texas, David Billiot and wife Kelly of New Iberia; three grandchildren, Whitney J. Billiot IV, Katie N. Hatch, Gillian G. Billiot; two great-grandchildren, Izabella M. Hatch, Abbagail L. Hatch, four sisters, Jeanette Crochet and husband Ray, Joyce Romero, Doris Landry and husband Robert, Brenda Alleman and husband L.J.; one brother, Clayton Billiot and wife Susie. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Whitney J. Billiot Sr. and Nola Aucoin; one sister, Betty Jean Billiot. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Danny Poche officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until mass time on Monday at the church. Mr. Sonny will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
