Merlin P. Boudreaux, Jr. 61, a lifelong resident of Morgan City passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012 at his home.
Merlin was born on June 10, 1951 in Morgan City the son of Merlin P. Boudreaux, Sr. and Barbara Ross Boudreaux.
Merlin had a love for hunting and fishing as well as welding and woodworking. He loved to sing and was a former member of the Tuneweavers and was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as song leader. He was an avid joke teller and never told the same joke twice. He loved spending time with his family but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Bernadette "Bunny" Miller Boudreaux of Morgan City; his mother Barbara Stansbury of Morgan City; two children, Nicole Boudreaux Gilmore and husband Mike of Morgan City, Merlin P. Boudreaux III and wife Tabby of Morgan City; seven grandchildren, Devin Gilmore, Hunter Taylor, Alyssa Gilmore, Joseph Gilmore, Jessica Cronier, Merlin P. "Tiger" Boudreaux IV, Kaleb Boudreaux; one great-granddaughter Brielle Claire Gilmore. He is also survived by two brothers, Gary Stansbury, Sr. and wife Jane Ellen of Morgan City, James Stansbury, Jr. and wife Deanna of Amelia; two sisters, Mary Ellen Percle and husband Mac of New Iberia, Cheryl LeBoeuf and husband Jimmy of Morgan City; one goddaughter Cherie O'Brien of Morgan City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Merlin was preceded in death by his father, Merlin P. Boudreaux, Sr.; step-father, James Stansbury, Sr.; one brother, Kim Stansbury.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the funeral home with visitation again resuming on Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Merlin will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
