Helen Sons

April 12, 1943 — November 4, 2007

Helen Businelle Sons, a native of Berwick, died at her residence in Patterson on Sunday, November 4, 2007, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She loved the art of cooking, and did so professionally for many years. On a personal basis, Helen would always greet a friend or stranger with the idea that they were hungry and made sure they had something to eat. She was willing to cook at any time someone came calling. Her mind was very sharp as she was the historian of the family and loved crossword puzzles and other mind teasers. She enjoyed most of all, the family gatherings and in particular the Disney World trip when all the family made the trip. Helen was a wonderful lady who never met a stranger. Helen is survived by her husband Oristile Sons Jr., one son Patrick Sons and his wife Sandra of Napoleonville, two daughters, Cathy Landrum and her husband Daniel of Garden City, and Kim Pillaro and her husband Jerry of Morgan City. She is also survived by four brothers, Joseph Businelle and his wife Linda of Patterson, Henry Businelle and his wife Rita of Patterson, Freddy Businelle and his wife Shannon of Bayou Vista, and Jimmy Businelle of Bayou Vista. Also surviving are her three sisters; Barbara B Atkins and her husband Carl of Bayou Vista, Lori B. Drew and her husband Stanley of Bayou Vista, and Joy Lee B. McNally of Morgan City. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and by 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Henry and Rita Ratcliff Businelle, one daughter, Karen Sue Sons, and four sons, Oristile III, Danny, Charles and Ricky Sons. Visitation will be observed on Tuesday November 6, 2007 from 6PM until 9PM and again on Wednesday from 9AM until 11AM. Funeral service will begin at 11AM at Twin City Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Terry Bunner of New Life Tabernacle. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
