Emma Julie Bertrand, 82, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012 at her home.
Emma was born on April 3, 1930 in Morgan City the daughter of Theophile and Leda Louise Maloz Chaisson.
Emma was a very strong catholic who was devoted to her prayers. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was a very devoted wife for 59 years to Eldridge Bertrand Sr. who preceded her in death. She enjoyed dancing to cajun music, playing cards, crocheting, and also loved to travel. She was a member of the Bayou Ramblers and the Bayou Allegro's camping clubs.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four children, Donna Sue Jones and husband Edward Jones Jr. of Berwick, Faith Ann Wilson of Berwick, E.J. Bertrand Jr. and wife Rosario of Morgan City, Monica Governale of Morgan City, Deborah Keller and husband Donald of Morgan City; eight grandchildren, Danielle Arceneaux and husband John, Karen Burch and husband Charlie, Jackie Wilson, Emma Bertrand-Dorics and husband Troy, Nick Governale Jr., Robert Keller, Jessica Feliciano, Christie Dragna; ten great-grandchildren, Katie Arceneaux, Jesse Arceneaux, Charlie Burch, Allison Burch, Brendon Keller, Allie Dragna, Andrea Dragna, Juan Feliciano, Nicholas Feliciano, Cecily Feliciano. She is also survived by one great-great-grandchild, Ava Feliciano; two sisters, Barbara Persilver and Leda "Donnie" Hensley.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Theophile Chaisson and Leda Louise Maloz Chaisson; husband, Eldridge Bertrand Sr.; one daughter, Lisa Bertrand, two grandsons, Justin Wilson, Christopher Jones; two sisters; two brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass on Tuesday at the church. Emma will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
