Gregory Lynn Ganaway, a native and resident of Morgan City, La., passed away at
Teche Regional Medical Center on Saturday, December 15, 2007. He was 52 years old.
“Greg” as he was known by everyone was a very open, generous and loving person.
He was a good, honest, and upright individual, a man of his word. He stood very strongly
for what he thought was right. Greg was a wonderful son, husband, and dedicated father,
and he loved spoiling his children. He helped many people in his life starting when he
was a boy and continued through his whole life. Greg will probably be remembered best
for being an entrepreneur in all of his business dealings. He joined up with his first cousin
Louis Ganaway over 22 years ago and as partners they operated a successful retail and rental business in the local area.
Greg is survived by his wife, Verna Helman Ganaway, two sons, Gregory Lynn
Ganaway Jr., and Gary Jacob Ganaway, and one daughter, Gracey Kay Ganaway. He is also
Survived by his father and mother, George and Omicle Meaux Ganaway, his brothers George
Wayne Ganaway and David Lee Ganaway, both of Bayou Vista, his godmother, Silver Mae
Picou of Morgan City, his cousin and partner, Louis Ganaway and his wife Joan, of Bayou Vista,
and his father-in-law and mother in law, Leroy and Mary Helman of Gainesville, Ga.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 16, 2007, from 6 pm until 9 p m, and again
on Monday December 17, 2007, from 10 a m until 2 p m. with funeral service at 2 p m., and
burial was in the Morgan City Cemetery.
