Frances Michel, 82, a resident of Morgan City and a native of Franklin, passes away at her residence, Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Frances was a member of AARP, The Catholic Daughters and Come Lord Jesus. She was a regular at Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Frances loved to cook and bake, especially brownies, she made sure that when you left you were not hungry. She also cooked for Samaritans who serve the bereaved. Frances served thousands of meals to the students at Sacred Heart Elementary School through her many years of service to the school. Frances loved gardening and flowers, but most of all she loved “Phenie” her dog.
Frances is survived by two daughters; Mary M. Ghirardi and her husband Glen of Berwick, Sharon A. Michel of Lafayette, one brother, Sam Vaccarella of Morgan City, three sisters; Carrie Bernucho and her husband Pete of Morgan City, Mary Ann Vaccarella of Morgan City, Josephine V. Thomas of Morgan City, two grandchildren; Tammy G. Como and her husband Enrico of Crowley, Joab M. Jett and his wife Jennifer of Carlsbad, CA., four great-grandchildren; Jacey Monroe Jett, Lauren, Ryan and Cody Lodrigue.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest John Michel, her son, Gerard Michel, her parents, Joseph and Josephine Marino Vaccarella, one sister, Rosie V. Hepler, two brothers, Maurice and Carlo “C.J.” Vaccarella.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 21, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 8:30am until 11am. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11am with Father Greg Fratt officiating. Frances will be laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery.
