Katherine Hobbs Bell went to be with our Lord on Wednesday December 19, 2007. Kathy age 56, passed away at 2pm at home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Rockport, Texas and resident of Morgan City, she was born on May 23, 1951. Kathy was a loving person who never met a stranger. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Kathy was full of life and energy and brightened the lives of everyone she knew and met upon her journey here on earth. A loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, she devoted her life to giving unselfishly of herself. Often a surrogate mom to her many nieces and nephews, she always saw the best in them and was always the favorite, fun and crazy aunt. She enjoyed meeting people, visiting friends, family, and baking. She was famous for her homemade chocolate fudge. Kathy lived life to the fullest and will be truly missed.
Katherine is survived by her soul mate and the love of her life, Rick Sewell of Arlington Texas, daughters Melissa Carter of Grand Prairie Texas, Kimberly Kelly and husband Rob of Arlington Texas, and son Justin Bell of Arlington Texas. Grandchildren Ana Carter, Caleb Creel, Dacie Kelly, Robert Paul Kelly and Gage Bell.
She is also survived by her mother Fannie Hobbs of Bayou Vista, one brother, Larry Hobbs and wife Brenda of Mena, Arkansas. Three sisters, Linda Oakley and husband Jim of Wetumpka Alabama, Julie Boyne and husband Edward "Doody" of Bayou Vista and Helen LaFleur and husband Henry of Morgan City, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Barney Hobbs, granddaughter Adelina Jo Kelly and nieces Kristina Collins and Cloud McKenzie LaFleur.
Visitation will be Thursday December 20th from 6pm-8pm continuing Friday at 8am until 2pm. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 2pm Twin City Funeral Home of Morgan City, with Reverend Evelio "Toto" Buenaflor, Jr. officiating. Following cremation, Kathy will be buried with her beloved father at Morgan City Cemetery.
