Cecile R. Ledet passed away at Teche Regional Medical Center Sunday Jan. 13th surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Cecile was born on January 20, 1916 and was 91 years old.
Cecile most of all loved her Lord and her brother Jesus Christ, she also liked to sew, and as a young lady would sew her brothers and her sister’s clothes. She made costumes for friends in the Mardi Gras Courts and for her grandchildren as well as her sons when they were younger. She was also a very good cook and made an awesome eggplant dressing and potato salad.
She was a past member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was a Eucharist Minister at holy cross for the home bound as long as she could drive a member of the pink ladies, the catholic daughter’s and the ladies altar society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, State Trooper Sergeant Freddie Ledet, her father, Walter Rhodes Jr., her mother Emily Gillen Rhodes, her brothers; Otis, Lloyd, Roland, Leon and Walter Jr. and her son Gail Ledet.
She is survived by her sister Ada Fangue of Berwick, her sons Kent Ledet and his wife Betty, Sheldon Ledet and his wife Marie of Morgan City, a special nephew Lloyd Rhodes of Austin, TX, her special friend Helen Fremin of Bayou Vista.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home.
Visitation will resume Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11:00 a.m. with Father Greg Fratt officiating.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Ledet, Philip Ledet, Kent Ledet Jr., Lloyd Rhodes, Scott Ledet, Phillip Ladner and Steve Ledet.
She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
