Dorothy “Dot” LaJaunie, 61, a native of Plaquemine and a resident of Berwick, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Teche Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Dot was a loving wife, mother, and Gigi. She loved spoiling her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved to travel and shop for antiques. Dot was known to have the power of the tongue that came from the heart and never had a silent thought. She loved all those who came into her life and will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Dot is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, A.J. LaJaunie of Berwick, her daughters; Kim Landry and her husband Paul Sr. of Morgan City, Leslie LaJaunie and her fiancée, Dana Ourso of Baton Rouge; her sister, Theresa Seneca of Plaquemine, her brother, Marvin Verret and his wife Mary Grace of Patterson; her brother-in-law, Wallace Carline of Morgan City. She also is survived three cherished grandchildren, Paul Landry Jr., Gregory Landry and Madison Lancon, several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind Barbara Rebardi, Teresa Romero and Tina Fernandez. These three wonderful ladies helped provide the long-term care Dot needed during her illness. She will be fondly remembered by a host of lifelong friends.
Dot was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Verret, her mother, Lottie Wisdom Verret, her brother, Wesley Verret and two sisters, Bertha Coussou and Gracie Carline.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Twin City Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Twin City Funeral Home commencing at 2:00 p.m.
The pallbearers to serve will be; Paul Landry Sr., Dana Ourso, Douglas Page, Robert Coussou, James LaJaunie and Herman LaJaunie Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Herb Lacassagne and George Wolbrecht.
Dot will be laid to rest in the Berwick Cemetery.
