Dewey Joseph Pennison

Dewey Joseph Pennison, 88, a resident of Amelia passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Dewey was born on December 30, 1923 in Bayou Boeuf the son of Walter Joseph and Mathilda Simoneaux Pennison. Dewey was a very hard worker always providing for his family. During his younger years he was a commercial fisherman and then he worked at Morgan City Lumber Company for 27 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and also enjoyed his hobby of woodworking and carpentry . He served his country proudly by serving in the United States Army during WWII as a Military Policeman. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four daughters, Carol Benoit of Amelia, Nancy Landry of Morgan City, Linda Johnson of Lakeland, Florida, Dianne Hall of Morgan City; three grandchildren, Harry Paul Benoit Jr., and wife Mandy of Maurice, Louisiana, Landon Landry and wife Paula of Dallas, Texas, Perry Lamar Hall of Morgan City. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Alicia Benoit, Shelby Benoit, James Landry, Heather Landry, Kayla Landry; two step-great-grandchildren, Amber Credeur and Nicholas Credeur. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Joseph Pennison and Mathilda Simoneaux Pennison; wife, Odelia Cavalier Pennison; three son-in-laws, Alton J. Landry, Louie Hall, and Harry Benoit Sr.; one sister, Ruth Pennison Aucoin; one brother, Avery Pennison. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Dewey will be laid to rest in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
