David “Punkin” Duplantis Sr., a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away at Teche Regional on Friday, January 25, 2008. David was a member of the Knights of Columbus, he was Deputy Grand Knight and Grand Knight of Council 1373 Knights of Columbus from 1968-1970 and 1987-1988. David helped supervise the construction of the KC Home in 1970, which is now the AARP Center. He worked tirelessly to enhance the Knights of Columbus. David loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed all of the family gatherings. He also loved Morgan City, as he wanted to see it prosper and grow.
David is survived by, Three daughters, Mary Ella and her husband Michael Testa of Sugar Land, Texas, Johnette and her husband Mark Rosenbalm of Sugar Land, Texas
Angie and her husband Adan Deroche of Sugar Land, Texas, One Son, David L. Duplantis, Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Phoenix, Arizona. Six Grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Cade, Haley, Andrew and Jacob. One Brother, Dan Duplantis and his wife Pat of Morgan City, Louisiana. Two Sisters, Geraine and her husband Ervin Clements of Houston, Texas. Diane and her husband John Fontenot, of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
A Special Friend, Mrs. Lillie Beadle of Morgan City.

Pallbearers: Michael Testa, Mark Rosenbalm, Adan Deroche, Ben Duplantis, Dennis Fontenot and Mark Fontenot.
Honorary pallbearers: Malcolm “Macky” Bourg, Ervin “Clem” Clements, Mike Fontenot and Al Pennison.
The family would like to thank the Nurses in the I.C.U. at Teche Regional Medical Center and the staff at Maison Jardin for the wonderful care they provided.
The visitation will be held, Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9am until 11 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11am . David will be laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery.
