Melvin J. Hebert, Sr., 76, a lifelong resident of Pierre Part passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Melvin was born on March 11, 1937 in Pierre Part the son of Louis and Edith Metrejean Hebert.
Melvin loved spending time with his family as he was the rock of the family. He never met a stranger and was an inspiration to anyone who would meet him. He was a very caring, loving, and giving person. He was a crawfish buyer for Alleman Seafood for the last ten years.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five children, Bonnie Ann Hebert of Napoleonville, Mark Hebert, Sr. and wife Janise of Berwick, Rachel Guillot and husband Kyle Sr. of Marksville, Melvin J. Hebert Jr. and wife Melissa of Stephensville, Tonya Gros and husband Casey of Berwick; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Horace Hebert of Sulpher, Calvin Hebert and Hayward Hebert both of Pierre Part.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Hebert and Edith Metrejean Hebert; wife, Rita Mae Theriot Hebert; two sons, Rodney Hebert and Louis "Boobee" Hebert; one daughter, Carma Mabile.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Belle River Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Melvin will be laid to rest in the Belle River Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Hebert Jr., Mark Hebert Sr., Brandon Hebert, Mark Hebert Jr., Ronnie Mabile Jr., Devin Richard, Trent Hebert, Trampus Daigle, Kyle Guillot Jr.
