Ray A. Crochet, Sr., 86, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was born on January 26, 1927 in Orange, Texas the son of Clay and Lillia Guillot Crochet.
Ray loved to spend time with his family but especially with his grandchildren. He also loved spending time with his wife making his famous hog head cheese and chicken cheese. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife at the casino; they went everywhere together. He was a firefighter for the City of Morgan City for thirty years and he also enjoyed thirty years of retirement. He served his country by serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 96 and the VFW Post 4222.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years Jeanette Billiot Crochet of Morgan City; five children, Ray A. Crochet, Jr. and wife Wendy of Alta Loma, California, Kerry Crochet and wife JoAnn of Morgan City, Dale Crochet and wife Cheryl of Bayou Vista, Pamela Crochet of Morgan City, Mark Crochet of Morgan City; nine grandchildren, Melissa C. Babin and husband Cy of Morgan City, Ray A. Crochet III and wife Wesley of Woodstock, Georgia, Erica C. Suire and husband Jeff of Patterson, Chris Crochet of Bayou Vista, Kara C. Cavalier and husband Grant of Belle River, Micah Crochet of Nebraska, Kayne Crochet and wife Meagan of Fort Polk, Krista Crochet of Morgan City, Brandon Crochet of Bayou Vista. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, Skyla Crochet, Haley Crochet, Bryce Babin, Claire Babin, Parker Babin, Mallory Crochet, Cade Suire, Alyssa Cavalier, Logan Cavalier, Makenzie Crochet, Makaela Crochet, Kasen Cole, Madeleine Price; two sisters, Barbara May and husband Ronnie and Lois Granier.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clay Crochet and Lillia Guillot Crochet; three brothers, Clay Crochet, Jr., Gerald Crochet, and Ovay Crochet; one sister, Elma Crochet.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad, will take place in the Morgan City Cemetery following mass.
