Lucy Mae Lowry Shirley, 80, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at her residence in Morgan City.
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., she was the widow of former Daily Review Editor and Publisher Doyle E. “Red” Shirley.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Morgan City. Local funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church sanctuary, the Rev. David Willoughby officiating.
Final services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Spartanburg, S.C., with the Rev. Glenn Rusher, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Spartanburg, S.C., officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Shirley is survived by two daughters, her very special Linda Shirley of Morgan City, and Mrs. Kevin (Becky) Hymel of Asheville, N.C.; two sons, Steve Shirley and his wife, Jean, and Andy Shirley and his wife, Erin, all of Morgan City; and seven grandchildren, Dusty Shirley of Atlanta, Charlie Shirley of Morgan City, Jonathan Shirley of Gretna, Christopher Shirley and Allison Shirley, both of Morgan City, and Ashley Hymel and Jon Eric Hymel, both of Asheville, N.C.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City and Floyd’s Mortuary in Spartanburg, S.C., are in charge of arrangements.
