Lawrence “L.J.” Joseph Thibodeaux Jr., 83, a resident of Berwick and a native of Lafourche Parish, passed away Saturday March 22, 2008 at Teche Regional Medical Center. “L.J.” loved his children and grandchildren. “L.J.” enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening, he loved giving his vegetables to family, friends and neighbors. “L.J.” also enjoyed cooking, especially homemade bread and sweet potato pies.
“L.J.’ is survived by one son, Bart Joseph Thibodeaux and his wife Debbie of Bayou Vista, four daughters: Deanna T. Sampey and her husband Reggie of Berwick, Nancy T. Marcel and her husband Ray of Berwick, Trudy T. Myers and her husband James of Katy, TX, Kim T. Breaux and her husband James of Houma, two sisters; Joyce Cockeham of Berwick and Mae Guillott and her husband Reggie of Bayou Vista. “L.J.” is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
“L.J.” is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Aycock Thibodeaux, his parents, Lawrence Joseph Sr. and Georgia Arceneaux Thibodeaux, one brother, Waddel Thibodeaux Sr. and one sister Beatrice T. Stevens.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 24, 2008 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm. The visitation will continue Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church from 8am until 10am. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10am. “L.J.” will be laid to rest in Berwick Cemetery.
