Jo Ann Christensen Aucoin

November 16, 1943 — May 7, 2013

Jo Ann Christensen Aucoin, a native of Morgan City, and 37 year resident of Berwick, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 6, 2013, at the age of 69. Known lovingly as "MeMe Jo Ann" to her family and friends, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was rarely spotted without her camera that she used to capture all of the precious moments of her family she so dearly loved. She enjoyed spending time with her family and always greeted them with a bubbly smile and warm embrace. Meme never passed up an opportunity to show her family how much she loved them. Mrs. Aucoin was a 1961 graduate of Morgan City High School and went on to attend Nicholls State University. She went on to do secretarial work at J. Ray McDermott. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and had a strong Christian faith. Mrs. Jo Ann was an avid bowler and served as Women's League secretary/ treasurer for many years. She was coordinator for the Morgan City High School reunion committee for 10 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Anthony Aucoin Sr; two children: Christen Aucoin Hebert and her husband Patrick J. Hebert Sr. of Berwick, and Anthony "Tony" Aucoin Jr. and his wife Tracy Morvant Aucoin of Lafayette; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Hebert Jr. and his wife Jessica Blood Hebert of Patterson, Ashten Hebert of Berwick and her fiancé, Justin Lombardo, also of Berwick, Ryan Hebert, Jonathan Hebert, Matthew Hebert, Elizabeth Hebert, Joseph Hebert, and Luke Hebert all of Berwick, Anthony "Trey" Aucoin III and Sawyer Aucoin of Lafayette, 2 great-grandchildren, Maria Hebert and Patrick Hebert III of Patterson; one sister, Scharlette Christensen Mayon and her husband James "Joe" Mayon of Bayou Vista. She was preceded in death by her parents, August "Rabbit" Christensen and Leola "Tot" Carter Christensen. Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Aucoin Jr., Patrick Hebert Sr., Patrick Hebert Jr., Ryan Hebert, Jonathan Hebert, Matthew Hebert, and Anthony Aucoin III. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Jo Ann will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
