Josephine Aloisio Stansbury died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Baton Rouge.
She was 83 years old, a native of Patterson and resident of Morgan City.
Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Ogden Stansbury.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Fisher and friend, Greg Cobb, of Baton Rouge; and her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jan Stansbury of Farmington, N.M.
Her grandchildren are Logan and Joelle Fisher of Baton Rouge, Ben Stansbury and wife, Allison, of Farmington, N.M., Belinda Stansbury of Boston, Jill Stansbury of Atlanta and Sally Stansbury of Little Rock, Ark.
She also is survived by her sisters, Rosemary Cutrera of Morgan City, Matilda Aloisio of Patterson and Catherine Piro of Mandeville; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Rosario and Frances Aloisio of Lafayette, Guy and Wanda Aloisio of Patterson, and Jimmie and Verdi Aloisio of Bayou Vista.
She also was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Rizzutto, Angelina Gianfala and Jennie Tringali; and a brother, Leonard Aloisio.
Josie was a 1945 graduate of Hotel Dieu Nursing School in New Orleans and served as operating room supervisor at Lakewood Hospital for 22 years.
After her retirement, she was a member of the Young Memorial Technical School board of directors.
Josie loved to play cards and always had a fresh pot of coffee ready for friends who loved to gather at her home, especially after her retirement. She looked forward to visits from her far-flung family so that she could serve her famous stuffed crabs and crawfish bisque.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm. Visitation will resume on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 8am until 10am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10am with Father Danny Poche officiating. Josie will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
