Rita Mae Cancienne Hardaway, 89, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at her home. Rita was born on August 4, 1924 in Morgan City the daughter of Sullivon Phillip Cancienne and Mamie Landry Cancienne. Rita was a lady who loved life and spending time with her family. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden. She also enjoyed cooking and crocheting for her family. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three children, Emmett T. Hardaway, Jr. and wife Donna of Berwick, Linda Souza and husband Thomas Sr., of Bayou Vista, Derald Hardaway and wife Connie of Katy, Tex; nine grandchildren, Emmett T. Hardaway III and wife Sherie of Berwick, Russell L. Hardaway Sr. and wife Leslie of Berwick, Angela H. Hernandez and husband Jorge of Berwick, Jennifer H. Arsaga and husband Greg of Austin, Tex., Jannine S. Blanco and husband Pernell of Morgan City, Alicia A. Souza of Vicksburg, Miss., Thomas V. Souza Jr. and wife Tracy of Morgan City, Fallon H. Mason and husband Matthew of Youngsville, Victoria T. Mathews and husband Cory of Richmond Hill, Ga. Rita is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. Rita was preceded in death by her parents; husband Emmett T. Hardaway, Sr.; two brothers; two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Bullock officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral services on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Morgan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the charity of donors choice.
