Lenwood J. Gaudet, 75, a resident of Amelia, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Lenwood was born on November 13, 1937 in Bayou Chene the son of Gilday Gaudet, Sr. and Ella Mae Dupre Gaudet.
Lenwood loved being in the outdoors shrimping, crabbing, crawfishing and fishing. He worked for McDermott for 27 years and was also a bee keeper for many years. He was a parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church and was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers there. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Lula Mae Abshire Gaudet of Amelia; one daughter, Darlene Gaudet Monceaux of Patterson; two sons, Mark Gaudet and fiancé Pamela Guthrie of Baton Rouge, Joseph Gaudet and fiancé Luanne Siqueira of Amelia; 17 grandchildren, Brandon Monceaux, Amanda Monceaux Yellott, Ryan Gaudet and wife Claire, Derrin Gaudet, Anne Marie Payne, Daniel Payne, Celine Payne, Seth Payne, Noah Payne, Mary Gaudet, Aaron Gaudet, Jr. and wife Danielle, Andrew Gaudet and wife Angel, Victoria Gaudet, Alexa Gaudet, Gabriella Gaudet, Sophia Siqueira Gaudet, Trent Harrington. Lenwood is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, Emily Romero, Cody Romero, Philomena Gaudet, Isabella Gaudet, Frederick Gaudet, Martin Gaudet, Gannon Gaudet, Gabriel Gaudet, Valerie Gaudet, Julie Gaudet, Aaron Gaudet III, Andrew Gaudet, Jr., Ava Grace Gaudet, Jaylee Harrington, Branton Harrington, Alaina Harrington; one brother, Gilday Gaudet, Jr. of Bayou L'Ourse; one sister, Eva Mae Ohmer of Chauvin.
Lenwood was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Lynn Gaudet and Aaron Gaudet, Sr.; one great grandson, Lynn Paul Joseph Gaudet; one brother, Julius Gaudet Sr.; brother in law George Ohmer Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 8:00 a.m. until Mass time on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow Mass in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
