Our Lord and Savior called our mom, Evelyn Yvonne Snider, home to heaven on Saturday, May 17, 2008. She was a native of Michigan and a resident of Morgan City. At the age of 69, she passed away peacefully at the Morgan City Health Care Center, after a 3-year battle with cancer. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, crocheting and spoiling her cat “Bootsie”, who she loved dearly. Evelyn was sincerely loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters; Lori Thomas of Berwick, Tamara Jones and her husband Herbert of Patterson, two sons; John Tanton Jr. and his wife Katsuko of Gifu City, Japan, William “Billy” Snider and his wife Karen of Falling Waters, West Virginia, one son-in-law, Ervin R. Thomas Sr. of Berwick, two brothers, Cecil Thorley Jr. and his wife Dorothy, Charles “Chuck” Thorley and his wife Marlene, all of Michigan, one sister, Gloria Davis and her husband Gary of Portland, OR. Evelyn is also survived eight grandchildren, Bridget, Ervin Jr. and Valerie Thomas, all of Berwick, Erika Tanton of Santa Monica, CA., Milly Anne Tanton of Gifu City, Japan, Joshua , Leigha and Brianna Snider, all of Falling Waters, WV and a host of nieces and nephews and her beloved cat “Bootsie”.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Evelyn Wagner Thorley Sr, who we know, she is rejoicing with right now. Two husbands, John Tanton Sr and Connie Edward Snider.
The family will receive friends, Friday, May 23, 2008 at Twin City Funeral Home from 9am until 1pm. The funeral service will commence at 1pm with Brother Ben Thibodaux officiating. Evelyn will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
The pallbearers and honorary pallbearers to serve: Herbert Jones Jr., Brian Wiggins, Chris Bosworth, William Snider, Ervin Thomas Sr, Ervin Thomas Jr., John Tanton Jr., Cecil Thorley and Charles “Chuck” Thorley.
The family would also like to give special thanks to Morgan City Health Care Center, the staff of Thibodaux Regional Medical and Cancer Centers, the staff of Teche Regional Medical Center, Hospice of South Louisiana, Dr. Leslie Elkins, Dr McWhorter at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge and to Home Health for all the special care that was given to our Mom in her time of need.
