Irwin "Manny" M. Pierron

Irwin "Manny" Martin Pierron, 89, a resident of Patterson, passed away December 4, 2013 at Teche Regional Medical Center. Irwin was born on November 12, 1924 in Berwick the son of Louis Eli and Elmire Landry Pierron. Irwin was known to most by "Manny" and will be remembered as a kind and loving man who lived life to the best of his ability. Manny was a combat veteran of World War II having served most honorable for 32 months in the United States Naval Air Force as a Combat Air Crewman, Aerial Gunner, Aviation Radioman. He served on the Carrier Bennington, flew in TBF Avenger Torpedo Bombers, 2-B 2-C Helldiver Dive Bombers, and in the Four Engine Coronado Patrol in the Pacific. Manny was an active member of St. Bernadette Church and served a s bingo worker, Usher and Eucharistic Adorer for many years. He was a Charter Member of St. Mary AARP and served as Legislative Chairman. Manny was also a member, commander and chaplain for life in the St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. He was a lifetime member and Junior Vice Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4422. For many years, Manny completed multiple duties at the VFW Bingo Games. Manny is survived by one daughter Anita Gray and S. Clevelin Broussard of Patterson; two grandchildren, Shawn Pierron and wife Shannon of Walker and Carl Gray of Anchorage, Alaska; three great grandchildren, Mackenzie Pierron, Alex Pierron, and Ethan Cook; one sister, Wanzie Pierron Bonner of Morgan City; one brother in law George Blanchard of Stephensville. He was proceeded in death by his dear wife of 50 years, Alice Louise Plank Pierron; his parents, Louis "Red" Pierron and Elmire Landry Pierron; one sister, Evella Blanchard. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father Bill Rogalla officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment with military honors will be in the Berwick Cemetery following mass. Military honors will be rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad. The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will be pallbearers and will perform full military honors for their fallen comrade. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice as requested by Manny and family.
