Margaret Chaisson Bourgeois, 88, a resident of New Iberia passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Suites De Maison Nursing Home in Lafayette.
Margaret was born in Morgan City on March 28, 1925, the daughter of Dennis and Victoria Chaisson. She will always be remembered as loving and kind to all who met her. She was a shining example to her family and loved ones and a great inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Margaret was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in New Iberia.
Margaret is survived by five daughters, Linda Ferritti (Gary) of Morgan City, Tana Bouton (Harvey) of New Iberia, Mary Kober (Ronnie) of Bayou Vista, Bonita Fender of Covington, Rose Broussard (Ricky) of New Iberia; seven sons, John Daniel Alpha (Debbie) of Maurice, Gary Alpha, Jr. (Susan) of Patterson, Michael Alpha (Joanne) of Patterson, Warren Alpha, Sr. of Patterson, Anthony Alpha (Elizabeth) of Patterson, Ronnie Alpha (Lisa) of Bush, Ira Joseph Bourgeois, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. Margaret is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; one sisters, Jessie Lee Hebert; one brother, Lamar Chaisson (Dot) of Morgan City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ira Joseph Bourgeois, Sr.; parents, Dennis and Victoria Chaisson; seven brothers; four sisters; ex-husband and friend, Maxwell Alpha Sr.; one son Maxwell Alpha, Jr.; one grandson, Cleveland Fryou, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Morgan City Cemetery following services.
Serving as pallbearers are sons, John Daniel Alpha, Gary Alpha Sr., Michael Alpha, Sr., Warren Alpha, Sr., Anthony Alpha, Ronnie Alpha, and Ira Joseph Bourgeois, Jr.
