Michael Richard Courtney

Michael Richard Courtney, 45, better known to some as "Cat Daddy" or "Buck" passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 in Monticello, Mississippi. Michael was born on August 9, 1968 in Morgan City the son of Bobby R. Courtney Sr. and Janet Boudreaux Courtney. Michael was kind, gentle, and always smiling and laughing. He loved to be in the outdoors hunting, fishing, snow skiing, and going to the camp. He also loved being with his family and friends especially his nieces, nephews, and step children as children always had a spot in Michael's heart. Michael had a spirit that was unique and lived life the way he wanted. He was always trying to help people and making people laugh. He has been taken way too soon, but is now in the arms of his Father. Michael will never be forgotten and will be truly missed. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother, Janet Boudreaux Courtney of Morgan City; fiancé Jeannine McJimsey of Morgan City; four brothers, Bobby Rayburn Paul Courtney, Jr., Gregory Mark Courtney and wife Kristie, Kirk Patrick Courtney, Keith Mario Courtney and wife Susan all of Morgan City; one step-brother, Randal Paul Chaisson of Morgan City. Michael is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Joshua Paul Courtney and wife Ann, Jonathan Mark Courtney and wife Danielle, Jamie Lyn Courtney, Stephanie Lynn Courtney, Adam Mario Courtney, Barron Paul Courtney, Austin Drake Courtney; three step daughters, Shannon Derise, Haidyn Derise, Kristi Boudreaux; one step son, Luke Derise; two step granddaughters, Jolie Boudreaux and Aubree Derise. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Bobby R. Courtney Sr. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church. Michael will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following Mass.
