Chief Travis Anthony Crouch

Chief Travis A. Crouch will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life Genie Bonner; his mother Barbara Crouch; His three sons Tyler A. Crouch, Caleb J. Crouch, and Dakota J. Bailey; His two daughters Scottie M. Bailey and his little princess Madison K. Bonner; his loving sister, Julia Blaylock and husband Jody; and his many nieces and nephews that looked up to him and whom he adored, along with a multitude of family and friends. His love and passion was his family and his leadership for his City, but he especially loved his Brothers in Uniform. He was a member of the Board of Municipal Police Employees Retirement System, the Louisiana Chiefs of Police Association, the Southeast Chiefs of Police Association, and the Morgan City Police Benevolent Association. He was a former member of the Morgan City Biddy Basketball Board, Atchafalaya Football League, and the Morgan City Baseball Board. His passion and love for his children, family, and community were the focus of his life. His career started at the age of 14 as a Junior Deputy with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office where he worked as a dispatcher, jailor, and road patrol officer. In 1991, Travis started with the Morgan City Police Department as a patrol officer. During his tenure at the department, he served in many capacities. On February 26, 2013, Travis was appointed Chief of Police and proudly accepted this position. He said, “Each day I will strive to lead our police department in a progressive direction.” As the police department began this progression, the City of Morgan City began to see their Chief carry out what he planned to do. As the leader of the police force, Chief Crouch was proud to stand alongside his brothers to protect and serve his city. There were many changes that had been made and are still plenty in the works, but they were all made with the Morgan City Police Department and the Citizens of Morgan City as his top priority. Travis, a dedicated law enforcement officer, was a fun-loving, compassionate man that truly enjoyed life. He was true to those he loved and was highly respected for his loyalty. Travis had a special way of making those around him feel safe with his mere presence. Travis was welcomed into Heaven by his father, Gerald Crouch Sr., his two brothers, Keith Thomas Crouch and Gerald Crouch Jr. and his father in law Eugene “Boo” Bonner, Jr. Visitation for Chief Travis Anthony Crouch will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium in the Ballroom beginning at 10 AM. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City at 3:00 P.M. Travis will be laid to rest at the Morgan City Cemetery. Twin City Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family is in the process of setting up an organization, in honor of our Chief, to help young people interested in law enforcement. This organization will be announced at a later date, at which time any donations may be made in lieu of flowers.
