"Big" James L. Davis Sr., 55 a resident of Bayou L'Ourse passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at his residence. Big was born on April 1, 1959 in Kosciusko, Mississippi the son of James Davis and Opal Ratcliff.Big was a mechanic by trade and enjoyed working on cars and helping people with any problem that they had, and never asked for anything in return. No matter where Big went in life he never met a stranger. He was employed at Berry Brothers for many years as a mechanic and thought of all his fellow employees as family. Of all the things that Big did in his life he loved spending time with his family and going on vacations with them. He always had an open door policy with his children, good or bad, he always loved them and took care of them.He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Linda Slaton Jackson Davis of Bayou L'Ourse; mother and step father, Opal Ratcliff Sullivan and husband Gene of Adel, Georgia; step-mother, Martha Massey of Celera, Alabama; son, James L. Davis Jr. of Bayou L'Ourse; daughter, Jamie L. Davis and fiancé Jakin Foussell of Morgan City; granddaughter, Jahdia Foussell; son, Curtis Jackson Jr. of Bayou L'Ourse; daughter, Sherry Jackson Baltes Reed Dusek and husband Thane of Bayou Vista; grandchildren, Justin and Brooklen Baltes, Cora Reed, Mckenzie and Therin Dusek. Big is also survived by four sisters, Betty Sue Davis of Morgan City, June Vardaman and husband Keith of Montevallo, Alabama, Tammy Lynch of Adel, Georgia, Bobbie Rachael Vine and husband Bryan of Celera, Alabama; three brothers, Billy Davis of Berwick, Johnny Davis and wife Roxanne of Bayou L'Ourse, Shoney Massey and wife Raeanne of Bayou L'Ourse; one step brother, Phillip Staten of Columbiana, Alabama.Big was preceded in death by his father James Davis; one brother, Bobby Joe Davis; grandparents, Eugene Ratcliff and Lorenia Dinger Ratcliff.Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
