Anthony J. "Tat" Cefalu, 90, a resident of Morgan City passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Anthony was born on October 15, 1923 in Lafayette the son of Vincent J. and Geneva Poncio Cefalu.
Anthony was a man of great integrity who served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre receiving a purple heart for injuries he sustained. Early in life he had a love for lifting weights and taught children at the catholic high school weightlifting during football season. He enjoyed being in the outdoors tending to his vegetable garden. Later in life he was a devoted husband to the love of his life, his wife Ms. Mildred.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two step-grandchildren, Mary Dalton Williams of Gray and Lawrence Matthew Dalton III of Morgan City; numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, step great-great grandchildren; as well as being survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mildred Picou Cefalu; one sister, Kathleen Nicklas; two step son's, Lawrence Matthew Dalton Jr. and Michael Dalton; one step granddaughter, Cynthia Ordoyne.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Mausoleum entombment with military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will take place following the funeral services.
