Charles A. Lodrigue Sr., 87, a lifelong resident of Morgan City passed away Wednesday, June 4,2014 at his resident.
Charles was born on November 27, 1927 in Morgan City the son of Adolph Lodrigue and Ernestine Billiot Lodrigue.
Charles enjoyed everything with the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and trapping. He would bundle up his baby daughter and tuck her in the bow of the boat to go up the bayou. His sons earliest memory is hunting rabbits with their daddy.
He was a boat captain for many years and loved telling jokes just to see people smile and laugh. He told exciting stories of adventure to his grandchildren about the daddy in the tree with a knife ready to plunge into the bayou on the big gator attacking his child.
He was both a momma and a daddy to his grandchildren cooking, cleaning and clothing them. He was the kind of man that endured 3 hours of Barney in bed with a sick grandson and many showings of Gone With the Wind courting his bride to be.
When a homeless family came to his and his wife's laundromat, he left to go home and cook a meal for them. That was the kind of man he was.
Just before he passed he said," I am going to heaven and if you want to come you better pack your bag."
We know all who knew him are packed and looking forward to that day.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Cecelia Lombes Lodrigue; two sons, Charles A. Lodrigue Jr. of Morgan City, and Joey Lodrigue Sr. and wife Rosalinda of Port Barre; one daughter, Deborah Pittman and husband Lloyd Pittman Jr. of Bayou Vista; four grandsons, Scott Chaisson, Charles A. Lodrigue III, Joey Lodrigue Jr. and Dustin Lodrigue; five great grandchildren, Drew Lodrigue, Madison Lodrigue, Adam Chassion, Grace Chassion and Logan Lodrigue.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Adolph Lodrigue and Ernestine Billoit Lodrigue; one grandson, Kevin Chaisson, three brothers, and three sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Blereau, Bayou Health Care and Hospice for all the kind care they provided.
