Ernest Dubois Sr., 94, a resident of Houma passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Maison de Ville Nursing Home in Houma.
Ernest was born on March 1, 1920 in Kaplan the son of Marscule and Natalie Vidalier Dubois.
Ernest served his country proudly by serving in the United States Army during WWII. He was also a member of the Kaplan American Legion Post 271 where he served on the funeral honors squad. He enjoyed going dancing in his younger days and he also enjoyed spending time with his family especially spoiling his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five sons, Ernest Dubois Jr. and wife Cindy of Gray, Jean Dubois and wife Brenda of Bayou L’Ourse, Carrel Dubois and wife Catherine of Pierre Part, Lee Dubois and wife Pamela of Gibson, and Chuck Dubois of Nashville; two daughters, Donna Arceneaux of Morgan City, Sue Floyd and husband Lawrence “Snookum” of Dry Creek, La.; 25 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. Ernest is also survived by one sister Mae Rose Matte of Kaplan and one brother, Edwin Dubois of New Iberia.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lois Dupuy; one son, Ray Dubois; first wife, Anna Turner; second wife, Gladys Vincent Dubois; four brothers, Armond Dubois, Yves Dubois, Dominic Dubois, Minos Dubois; one sister, Louise Duplantis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home with Monsignor J. Douglas Courville officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home with visitation resuming Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Ernest will be laid to rest in the Berwick Cemetery with military honors rendered by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
