Bernice M. Morrison Giandelone, 97, a resident of Morgan City, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Morgan City Healthcare Center.
Bernice was born on November 8, 1916 in Bayou L’Ourse the daughter of Benjamin and Adeline Landry Morrison.
Bernice was a woman of very strong catholic faith as well as a strong willed individual was known to be the backbone of her family. She enjoyed family gatherings but enjoyed cooking for her family even more. She used to love gardening with her husband and was a lover of all animals.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Johnny Giandelone and wife Fern of Morgan City, Benny Giandelone and wife Gale of Bayou L’Ourse; five grandchildren, Joey Giandelone of Broussard, Janet Giandelone Broussard and husband Keith of Cecilia; Johnny P. Giandelone and wife Connie of Katy, Texas, Lane Giandelone and wife Melissa of Labadieville, Kirk Giandelone of Prairieville; six great grandchildren, Joni Giandelone, Jaci Giandelone, Jami Giandelone, Joey Giandelone Jr., Hanna Giandelone, and Jenna Giandelone.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph Maurice “Joe” Giandelone; three
brothers, Sterling Morrison, Charles Morrison, and William “Bill” Morrison; five sisters, Adeline Blanco, Cordelia Brown, Linda Clements, Carrie Strickland, and Lelia Keller.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morgan City Healthcare Center for the loving care that they gave Bernice during her time there as they went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable. The family would also like to thank Doctor Melancon for the care he provided.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Greg Fratt officiating. A visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday July 3, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home with a rosary being held at 9:30 a.m. Bernice will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following mass.
