Charles Louis Dinger, 60, a resident of Berwick, went home to his Heavenly Father on the 21st of August. With the knowledge of a new grandchild coming in August, he had purposed in his heart to be here for the birth, and August 10 at 9:37 pm Charles Joseph Dinger arrived. God gave Charles Louis the gift of time. Charles’ life was one of unselfish giving. The love of family was always the first thing on his mind, and his last days were spent with his family and friends. Charles worked in the marine industry as a tug boat captain for many years, working with and for his father. Life and work on the water came naturally. His last business venture was the opening of C & J Marine Services with his oldest son Joshua. He also spent quality time with those he loved at his bayou camp. He is survived by his mother Rose Billiot Dinger and his wife of 40 years, Sarah Harrell Dinger of Berwick; their two sons, Joshua and Seth and their wives, respectively, Christina Ashley and Shaina Blanchard; and seven grandchildren, Alexis Gunther, Cassidey, Seth Jr., Alexzander, Carson, Samuel, and Charles. His surviving siblings and spouses include three brothers Alton Jr., Victor and his wife Mary, Corbert and his wife Glenda and two sisters Rose Marie and her husband Calvin Aucoin and Regina Dinger. Other close family includes his uncle Adam Billiot and aunts Virgie Gray and Ida Crouch. He will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Alton F. Dinger Sr., both maternal and paternal grandparents, and a sister, Janet Rose Dinger. Visitation will be at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City for Tuesday, August 26 from 6pm-9pm. A private service and burial will be held on Wednesday, August 27. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Charles’ life on Saturday, September 6 at 2pm in Berwick at Lighthouse Community Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Lighthouse Community Church Missions or any other charitable organization.
