Lee A. Delaune, 62, a resident of Morgan City passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at his home. Lee was born on October 22, 1951 in Franklin, Louisiana the son of Russell and Gloria Barbier Delaune. Lee lived a life of service to his family, friends, and his community. He dedicated his life to the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival serving for forty-three years and serving the last six years as the festival's Executive Director. Lee had a love for art and graduated with a Master's degree from Louisiana State University, and was a very proud alumni. Because of his love for art he was commissioned to create the poster for the 76th Annual Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. Lee was a proud graduate of Berwick High School Class of 1969. He was a member of the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association and Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals. He was a licensed florist and is the former owner of Flower Fashions in Morgan City. He was very proud of the fact that he was able to decorate former Governor Mike and Alice Foster's home, Oaklawn Manor, in Franklin before and after Foster was the Governor of Louisiana. As a result of his love for being involved in the community he was one of the originators of the Krewe of Adonis in Morgan City serving on the board for ten years. He is also the past president, captain and king of the Krewe of Dionysus and served as president and board member for five years and served as the King in 1989. Lee was also a board member for the Krewe of Nike. He loved spending time with his family and loved his nieces and nephews and thought of them as if they were his own children. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sisters, Becky Bergeron and husband Carl of Bayou Vista and Richelle Driskill of Morgan City; three nephews, Joshua Driskill, Harrison Bergeron and Nicholas Bergeron; one great nephew, Kaiden Crouch Delaune; two great nieces, Kailie Crouch Delaune and Kynzlie Crouch Delaune; two uncles, O. Jay Barbier and wife Kathleen and Emile Barbier and wife Carolyn; five aunts, Jeanette Barbier Clements, Dean Barbier, Maxine Barbier, Connie Barbier, Wanda Barbier McCelland and husband Robert. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gloria Delaune; grandparents, Albruge and Nettie Delaune, Elves and Alice Barbier; one nephew, Skyler Delaune; four uncles, E.P. "Sneak" Barbier, Whitney Barbier, Maurice "Moe" Barbier, Albruge Sylvester Delaune Jr.; two aunts, Melva Barbier and Sherry Barbier Brennan. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a memorial visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass and a rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Twin City Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
