James Melvin Pitre Sr., native of Addis, LA and resident of Morgan City, died October 20, 2008 after a short illness. James Melvin was a retired career Master Sergeant in the US Army Combat Medical Corps. MSG Pitre is a veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving his country for 28 years, he became a dedicated employee of Auto Zone. His hobbies included deep sea fishing in the Pacific, Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. He also was a master wood craftsman. His family, friends and neighbors enjoyed his love for gourmet grilling.
James Melvin is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mydra Richard Pitre, son, James M. Pitre Jr. and his wife Andrea of Sugar Land, TX; son, Joseph Pitre and his wife Madelyn of Lydia, FL and grandsons Joshua and Matthew Pitre of Lydia, FL.
Preceded in death by his parents Ferdinand Pitre and Audrey Pitre Arceneaux.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Twin City Funeral Home from 9am until 11:30am. Interment will be at 2pm at Port Hudson National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
