Rosemae Theriot Aucoin, 92, died at her home in Bayou L’Ourse on November 4, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Rosemae was a loving Mother, Grandmother, great Grandmother, great-great Grandmother and a friend to many people. She was the foundation of our family and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She lived a full life from taking care of her mother and her sister at 16 to having a family at 24. She went from a farmers’ daughter to a trappers’ wife and never stopped helping others. To Rosemae there were no strangers. Rosemae and Paul raised 12 children in the former small community of Bayou Boeuf (now Amelia) who were very devoted to her and loved her with all their hearts. Rosemae was a devoted member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia. She was a 40 plus year member of the Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She loved attending Mass.
Rosemae is survived by two sons, Clarence Anthony “Buggy” Aucoin and his wife Jackie from Amelia, Kenneth Paul Aucoin and his wife Debbie from Raceland, six daughters, Patricia Chaisson Kennedy and her husband Keith from Amelia, Sandra Savant from Bayou L’Ourse, Evelyn Sellers from Bayou L’Ourse, Cynthia Massicotte and her husband Philip from Bayou L’Ourse, Rosetta McLaren and her husband Delwyn from Bayou L’Ourse, Kathleen Boudreaux from Bayou L’ Ourse, Rhonda Gilmore and her husband Terry from Morgan City. She is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
Rosemae was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Paul Aucoin, one daughter, Olive Broussard, three sons, David Lee Paul Aucoin, Joseph James Aucoin, an infant son, three son-in-laws, E.J. Broussard, Nolan Chaisson, James Boudreaux and one daughter-in-law, Mazie Champagne.
The visitation will be observed, Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm. The visitation will resume Friday, November 7, 2008 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia from 9am until 1pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 1pm. Rosemae will be laid to rest in the St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
