Florence Hebert

March 5, 1913 — November 9, 2008

Florence Gertrude Gauthreaux Hebert, 95, a native of Bayou Beouf and a longtime resident of Gibson, died November 9, 2008 at the Lafourche Home for the Aged in Thibodaux. Mrs. Hebert was a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She was a devout Catholic who took an active role in the church. She also was an avid gardener, reader and seamstress, whose handiwork provided wedding and baby quilts for several generations of family and friends. A strong, independent woman with a great sense of humor, Mrs. Hebert will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Florence is survived by her six children, Albert Hebert and his wife Peggy of Bayou Vista, Herbert Hebert and his wife Theresa of Gibson, Olive Arceneaux of Gibson, Raymond Hebert and wife Carolyn of Houma, Marilyn Cornes and her husband John of Thibodaux and Beverly Vetter and her husband Scott of Shreveport, 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Adam Hebert, her parents, Albert and Isabelle Giroir Gathreaux, two sisters, Gracie Leonard and Pearl Hebert, and a half-brother, Albert Paul Gathreaux Jr. The visitation will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Gibson from 9am until 1pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 1pm. Florence will be laid to rest in the St. Patrick Cemetery.
