Virgie Watkins

July 17, 1937 — December 29, 2014

Virgie Grizzaffi Watkins, 77, of Morgan City, LA passed away on December 29, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Eugenia Grizzaffi, both of Morgan City. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Garver Paul Watkins; one son, Rick Watkins of Lafayette; two daughters, Lisa Sellers and Donna Moreau, both of Lafayette; two sisters, Carolyn Foster and Diane McCann; and one brother, Sam Grizzaffi Jr. She also has 10 grandchildren to whom she was very devoted. Virgie was a faithful wife, a loving mother, and a dedicated grandmother. She was a caring and beautiful person inside and out, and she passed on her faith and beliefs to her children. Virgie was a very hard worker and hand many careers in her lifetime including librarian, owner of 2 clothing stores, and finally retired as a secretary. She loved to cook, spend time with her loved ones, play cards, and often enjoyed trips to the casino with family and friends. She was a very generous and loving person who made friends wherever she went. Her beautiful blue eyes and contagious laughter will be remembered by all. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until time of mass at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum following the service. Pallbearers are Brett Watkins, Blake Hebert, Brad Grizzaffi, Jeff Grizzaffi, Matt Grizzaffi, David Dressel and John Foster. Family would like to extend a warm thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for their loving service in the last few weeks of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
