Paula Jean Cortez February 4, 1960 March 28, 2015 Paula Jean Cortez, 55, a native of Houma and resident of Morgan City passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Morgan City Health Care. Paula was a avid Dallas Cowboy fan who would never miss a game if possible. She loved to hunt, fish and spend her time with her family and friends. Paula was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed by all who knew her. "Life Should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, proclaiming WOW-What a Ride!!" Paula is survived by her daughter, Celeste Ann Cortez of Stephensville and granddaughter, Brittany Ann Giroir also of Stephensville; one sister, Audrey Adams and husband, Russell of Sugarland, TX; two brothers: Marvin Ellis Sr. and wife, Danette and Gary Ellis Sr. and wife, Lisa both of Bayou L'ourse; four nieces: Leslie Ann Moore, Kathy Gamble, Kerry Ellis and Brittany Foster and three nephews: Jacob Joseph Breaux, Marvin Ellis Jr., and Gary Ellis Jr. along with her close friend and former husband, Ricky Cortez. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Bessie Ellis and one brother, Jimmy Ellis. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015at Twin City Funeral Home beginning at 9am until time of service at 11am. She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following the service.
