Rita Keller Sampey, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Friday January 16, 2009, at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Rita was member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed spoiling her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and great great-grandkids. She loved to cook and bake and did a good job of it as she was an excellent cook. She loved music and dance, and at an early age, enjoyed camping and traveling. She could also put a stick in the ground and make it grow, as she loved planting
Mrs Sampey is survived by one son, Reginald Sampey and his wife Deana, of Berwick, and two daughters, Rosalie S. Selph and her husband “Gene” of Mobile Alabama and Joy S. Fruge and her husband Gerald of Lake Charles, two brothers, Harold Keller and his wife Bessie of Morgan City, Joseph Keller Jr. and his wife Rosalind of Morgan City. Mrs. Sampey is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sampey was preceded in death by her husband Herman Joseph Sampey, one daughter, Susan S. Boudreaux, one great granddaughter, Kayla Boudreaux, her parents, Joseph and Lelia Morrison Keller, two brothers, Alton Keller and Wilbert Keller, four sisters, Lucille Reid, Gladys Hebert Tabor, Elise Domangue and Katy Kiffe.
The visitation will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm. The visitation will resume Monday, January 19, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home from 9am until 11am. The funeral service will commence at 11am. Mrs. Sampey will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
