Clarence “Brother” Verdin, 82, a resident of Morgan City and a native of Barataria, LA, passed away, Wednesday, February 4, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Clarence was a member of the American Legion, AARP and a former CCHS Booster. Clarence enjoyed music & dancing, traveling, camping, hunting & fishing (trawling). Clarence never met a stranger, he touched a lot of peoples lives, loved to spoil his grandchildren and was a dedicated hard worker. Clarence was an all around wonderful “Paw Paw”!
Clarence is survived by two sons, Michael Verdin and his wife Vickie of Houma, Clarence Verdin Jr. and his wife Britt of Berwick, one daughter, Regina V. Landry and her husband Dwight of Monroe, NC., four brothers, Ronald Verdin and his wife Shirley of Bayou L’Ourse, Rip Verdin and his wife Cheryl of Patterson, Adolph Verdin Jr. and his wife Myrtle of Morgan City, Noel Verdin and his wife Diedra of Patterson, six sisters; Edna Porche of Bayou Vista, Mamie Thomas and her husband Gordon of Lafayette, Shirley Trosclair of Bayou Vista, Betty Helmar of Marrero, Gayle Verdin of Franklin and Brenda Besse and her husband Larry of Morgan City. Clarence is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Monssen and her husband George of Tempe, AZ, Troy Verdin of Houma, David Landry of Charlotte, NC, Danielle Landry of Monroe, NC, step-mother, Adeline Billiot Verdin.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Verdin, son, Wayne Verdin, his parents, Adolph Sr. and Ella Carmadelle Verdin, one sister, Dayle Verdin and one brother James Verdin.
The visitation will be held Friday, February 6, 2009 at Twin City Funeral Home from 6pm until 9pm. The visitation will resume Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9am until 11am. A Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 11am. Clarence will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum. The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad will conduct graveside Honors.
