John N. Fernandez, 94, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at his residence.
John was born on December 12, 1920 in Centerville, Louisiana the son of Nicomez F. Fernandez and Susan Fernandez.
John was a World War II Veteran who served in The 4th Infantry Division during The Battle of the Bulge, and in Hertgen Forest which during his time received 3 bronze stars. He was also an active member of the following: The Knights of Columbus, The American Legion and The VFW. John was a devoted husband and father who taught his family the value of hard work. His legacy of dedication to his family and friends will never pass.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remember by his wife Jeannette Vincent Fernandez of Morgan City; two sons: John H. Fernandez and wife Brenda of Morgan City, Craig M. Fernandez of Morgan City; two daughters: Frances F. Beadle of Lafayette, Jane F. Stansbury and husband Gary Sr. of Morgan City; eight grandchildren: Justin Fernandez and wife Jenny, Jaysen Hebert and wife Aja, Sarah Fears and husband Brandon, Matt Beadle and wife Morgan, Kelli Beadle, Gary Stansbury Jr. and wife Meagan, Meredith Nave and husband Nicholas, Natalie Graves and husband Vince; 16 great grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Nicomez F. Fernandez and Susan Saunders Fernandez; five sisters: Bernice Sacco, Alberta Bollotte, Vonnie Stansbury, Betty Gilbert, Laura Fernandez, Vincent Reed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Twin City Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum with full military honors provided by The East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
